Now that the canvas is covered, put your brush down and study the painting. Ask yourself questions like, Is the road too dark, too cold? Is the warm strip of land in front of the house light enough, bright enough? Are there drawing errors that need to be corrected? Answers to these and similar questions will inform your choices as you map out the changes needed. Because each color you paint changes the balance of the whole composition, making adjustments is simply part of the painting process.
